During his interview with Keanu Reeves for the upcoming release of generation Um, Kevin Sullivan of MTV Movies Blog learned some new info related to Man of Tai Chi.
Keanu Reeves was planning on shooting the fight sequences in Man of Tai Chi with the Bot and Dolly rig. Howver, due to the cumbersomeness of the rig and the problems associated with shipping it to China, it wasn’t used to shoot the fight scenes after all.
On the the experience of working with the rig, Keanu said:
“It certainly influenced the way that we went forward in terms of shooting some of the fight scenes in terms of the organicness and movement of how we shot some of the fight scenes. I just couldn’t go on top. [laughs] I couldn’t do an overhead shot with no cut into a close up.”

Update: Note that the clip attached to this article is old. If you look closely, Keanu is standing in front of the Side by Side marquee during the Museum of Modern Art event that took place on August 9, 2012. This is an excerpt about Man of Tai Chi from that interview with Josh Horowtiz that originally appeared on August 13, 2012. I chose to post just the new information since we covered this clip back in August.
