Press Round Up from Keanu Reeves’ Appearance at PBS Presentation – Update

As mentioned in an earlier post, Keanu was quite the hit at the PBS panel for Side by Side at Television Critics Association  summer press tour today in Beverly Hills. The hour version of the documentary will air on August 30 on PBS.

There has already been much press for Side by Side already, so we will collect the pieces that emerge from the panel in here and folks that are interested pick and chose what to read.

Kristi Turnquist wrote for The Oregonian that Keanu Reeves is a serious film geek who spoke with enthusiasm and expertise about film in general. She also mentions that Keanu was a charmer casually slipping a french phrase (‘the more things change the more they stay the same’) into the conversation and declared the idea of Point Break on Broadway as “awesome!”.

Roth Cornet reports on the Bill & ted 3 news that emerged at the PBS panel today for IGN. When asked about the current status of Bill & Ted 3, Keanu said, “There have been a couple of drafts [of a Bill & Ted 3 script] and right now we’re waiting on the writers to come up with another draft.”  Keanu went on to say that it was important to the team to find a way to honor George Carlin’s character Rufus. Mr. Cornet promises another piece that is focused on the documentary.

Update: As promised, Roth Cornet hs posted his piece on Side by Side for IGN. He reports that during the panel Keanu Reeves was less gloomy about the survival of film saying, “I was skeptical that it would survive a year ago, but there seems to be an artistic push back that will help it survive in a niche way.” A good review of the film’s content.
