Jason Adams focused his second post on his visit to the 47 Ronin set at Pinewood Studios on June 7, 2011 on the creators of the film for JoBlo. While we have read interviews with director Carl Rinsch and costume designer Penny Rose at other sites, Jason Adams features an interview with seapons master Simon Atherton.
In the course of the interview, Atherton talks about the importance of the culture of the sword and the fact that every inch of the sword has a name in Japanese. For the film, he and his team created 600-700 swords including multiple versions of the swords (rubber for stunts, aluminum for fighting and bamboofor safety).
It’s a good read and is here.
