Liongate Sells Out Worldwide on Point Break Reboot

The Hollywood Reporter has posted that Liongate has sold out the Point Break remake worldwide at the American Film Festival. The film has no cast attached to it and is billed as an indie but that hasn’t stopped foreign distributors from signing deals for rights to the film.

They are reporting that the film will have a tentpole budget and will be directed by Ericson Core whose only claim to fame is Invincible. Patrick Wachsberger from Liongate is quoted as saying that the reboot will revisit the characters of Johnny Utah and Bodhi.

I am not big on remakes and have yet seen one that was as good as the original. I also can’t imagine anyone other that Keanu Reeves in the Utah role. Regardless the success of the original appears to be driving the frenzy over the remake.
