Ronald Grover has just posted an article on Reuters “Exclusive: Universal takes writedown for new Keanu Reeves film”. Regardless of what the prospects are for this film, the only thing to say is shame on Universal for releasing this information the day before the film opens.
It is almost like they are deliberately trying to sabotage their own film. Anyone who goes to the theater on Christmas day without a clear preference as to what to see may have considered the film. Now they will be looking at the poster in the theater lobby and think, its own studio thinks its a loser so why bother. They must have scraped the bottom of the barrel for their marketing team. Would it really have killed them to wait until the weekend or Monday to release this?
