Keanu Reeves’ Inteview with Rundschau

Rüdiger Sturm interviewed Keanu Reeves for Rundschau Online. The interview is in German but it is readable with the google translator. Kudos to Mr. Sturm – he was successful in getting Keanu to open up. Here are a few of the more interesting highlights:

  • Keanu was asked if he would make a good samurai. He said he thought so and elaborated on that. He went on to talk about the culture of respect and how complicated it was. They ask about how it was complicated and Keanu talked about that and remarked that even today, the Japanese world is marked by a very formal politeness. As a result of Keanu’s remark on the politeness aspect of the Japanese culture, the interviewer asked him if he faced difficulties. Keanu said he did not personally tend towards rudeness although he did say that there might be situations where he can disengage. He went on to talk about the time he freaked out when he was arrested for speeding.
  • He was asked if he was a tough guy. He said he doesn’t have any inclination for violence and that he doesn’t like conflicts. He said that he would only be violent if his friends or family were threatened.
  • His past bike accidents were broguht up and he was asked if he wanted to take t˙ings a little slowe. In short t˙e answer was no. He said he loves to go fast and when he is finished with work he feels uneasy and riding serves as his release valve. He did say he tries to observe the traffic rules.
