Canadians win Scientific & Technical Honors from Academy Awards

Montrealer Boudreault and his colleagues are being honored for creating software that was used to create the slow-motion effect known as “bullet-time”. The product was used in The Matrix and brought it to the forefront.

Doncaster is being honored for a technique referred to as deep compositing which allowsa smooth way to merge two different images. He and his wife came up with the technique while working on The Day the Earth Stood Still.
