Keanu Reeves and Sensational Headlines

Many thanks to @adriandayton who tweeted the link to his article!

Lawyer Adrian Dayton has posted an article on his blog about writing headlines. Earlier last week he tweeted that he was sitting in front of Keanu Reeves on the flight to NYC along with a photo. The tweet was widely retweeted by the Reeves fan base including this site. He used the experience to write an article about sensational headlines. He made the following point and went on to cover the points to be considered when writing a good headline.

The point is this, sensational headlines just like my celebrity spotting can grab attention, they get people to click on articles, but they don’t really serve much of a purpose beyond that.

Think about that. As fans we have a tendency to click on articles that have ‘Keanu Reeves’ in the headline. Some of those articles are good and worth reading and others are garbage and a waste of time but the headline sucked us in.

Mr. Dayton was also kind enough to include another photo that he took on the plane. You can read his article and view the new photo here.
