As the theatrical release date approaches for Side by Side, another volley of interviews and articles to promote the documentary begins.
Maria Garcia has just published a piece on the film for Film Journal International. In addition to covering the background on the film and covering some of its key points, she also interviewed Chris Kenneally in a Brooklyn diner and Keanu Reeves by phone from China for the article.
While much of the information has been covered before, the following comments offered by Chris Kenneally struck a cord:
Kenneally recalls Reeves’ daily presence during color correction and mixing. “He kept asking me these technical questions about the workflow, which was great,” Kenneally says over breakfast at a Brooklyn, New York diner. “I have worked with a lot of producers who, once it comes to post, they say: ‘Call me when there is something to look at.’”
I always considered Keanu Reeves to be a perfectionist. Considering Henry’s Crime was Company Films’ first production and Mr. Reeves first time producing I expected him to be greatly invested in the day to day post production work and I found it satisfying to have it confirmed.
