JoBlo Movie Trailers has posted a new exclusive clip from The Neon Demon, ‘Horror Chase’ on youtube.

Many thanks to @tnd_film for sharing a very short clip with some new footage of Keanu on twitter.

LAtf USA has posted their review of The Neon Demon. They finish with:

A wicked little thriller that stays with you long after the credits roll, with “The Neon Demon” Nicolas Winding Refn adds yet another exceptional feature to his impressive filmography.

Cineapse has posted their review of the film. They ended with the following:

With moments of sonic sublimity and fearless choices which will alienate as may as it enraptures, The Neon Demon cannot be dismissed or ignored. It fits squarely in Refn’s wheelhouse but pushes boundaries in every direction at the same time. To say it is multi-sensory evokes the audio queues and striking visuals already mentioned, but this also includes the sweaty palms and accelerated heartbeat only a provocateur like Refn can illicit. Because there’s virtually no line Refn refuses to cross, there’s a dread-filled anticipation experienced in each of his films. The Neon Demon offers that singular sensation in spades, an endorsement that will scare off as many as it intrigues, which is likely just the way Nicolas Winding Refn wants it.

The San Francisco Chronicle reviewed The Neon Demon and said that ‘there is a lot of flash, but little substance’.

MovieWeb has posted a second review of the film. Julian Roman said the following:

I recommend The Neon Demon purely on the basis that it is radically different, especially if you choose to watch it on Amazon streaming. I had major issues with the narrative and the message, but was fascinated nonetheless. Most films spoon feed you a decidedly safe viewpoint. Refn does not. He is pushing boundaries over a cliff. It may come off to some as artsy and nonsensical, but you have to give him credit for a distinct vision.

The Knockturnal has posted their review of The Neon Demon. Their final thoughts are below:

Moments and segments of The Neon Demon will make you sick to your stomach. Unlike Only God Forgives, these feel consequential. The final revelation and accompanying image is unforgettable. These are interspersed within a film that is tense and menacing because you long for the release. Beauty has the power to entrance an audience. Nicolas Winding Refn knows this and uses it to get a reaction. What that reaction will be completely depends on who you are. Me? I don’t think this is a film I will be forgetting anytime soon.

Straight has posted their review of the film. I’ll leave you to go read their closing with this warning – if you get queasy easily, skip this one.

Nashville Scene has posted their review of The Neon Demon. They said the following:

But at heart, The Neon Demon is basically Showgirls with a lot of arthouse trappings thrown on for protection. Rather than the limited run where it might find an appreciative audience, distributor Broad Green Pictures is sending it into America’s multiplexes, where the most common response is likely to be “Huh?” This is closer to a midnight movie than a conventional genre film, and if you can appreciate it on that level, you’re far more likely to enjoy it.

Croogles has posted their interview with Nicolas Winding Refn.

Update: The Playlist has posted their review of The Neon Demon and gave the film a B+. The reviewer said the following:

Spectacular, gross and delicious (so unsavory it’s almost sweet), the film is more proof of Refn’s mastery of his trash aesthetic and more fun than anything this indulgent and empty-headed has any right to be. If he can ever find some meaning to attach all these glorious signifiers to, he might be on to something, but the wilfully surface, nasty camp of “The Neon Demon” will do just fine till that day comes.

Rex Reed reviewed the film for The Observer and was fairly negative. Considering it was Rex Reed, no surprise there.

Justin Change reviewed The Neon Demon for the LA Times. Several of his comments are below:

Even if you were to somehow miss the elegant “NWR” monogram in the opening credits, you would be safe in assuming that Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest film is a self-indulgent exercise in style. But what self-indulgence, and what style!

The movie’s attitude toward its subject is essentially that of a body snatcher, assuming its victim’s outer form in order to destroy it from within.

“The Neon Demon” may be a beautiful corpse of a movie, but it’s a corpse that bleeds.

Anders Wright has reviewed the film for The San Diego Union-Tribune and gave it a 2.5.

Geek Nation has posted their review of the film. Alex Welch said the following:

The Neon Demonis a stylish, enthralling, and always-captivating journey into what is basically, Refn’s vision of fashion hell. It’s third act may prove to be more difficult than some moviegoers can bare, but for those of you out there who are able to take even the most gut-churning of onscreen images, I think you’ll find The Neon Demon to be perhaps Nicolas Winding Refn’s most rewarding film to date.

The Daily Dead has posted their review of the film and gave it a 2.5/5.
