The Radical Reality of Keanu Reeves
July 17, 1991|CHRIS WILLMAN | SPECIAL TO THE LOS ANGELES TIMES
Gus Van Sant was there so I am assuming this interview was to start promotion for My Own Private Idaho which was at the end of September 1991 release.

Kenneth Branagh chose Vignamaggio as the setting for his 1993 adaptation of the theatrical comedy “Much ado about nothing”.
It’s true his speech is confusing enough to prompt the ‘Planet Earth calling Keanu’ tone of most published interviews with him. But it’s not quite accurate to call Reeves inarticulate. It’s more that he moves from the monosyllabic to the convoluted with hardly a pause in the regular registers in between. He has an affection for Sixties slang, some odd surfing-derived adjectives (‘gnarly’, ‘kickback’) and an occasional caricature naivete. On reading Thomas Mann’s Dr Faustus: ‘I’m like, ‘Wow, fuck’.’
But then again, the questions he’s asked don’t always make for good communication. ‘Do you prefer sex to Shakespeare?’ one journalist asked him at Cannes. Not a pause, not a flicker. ‘Yes,’ he said.

A Dogged Journey
Dogstar members insist their band is not merely a vanity project for actor Keanu Reeves. Despite ridicule from critics, they still tour and have an album coming out next month.

It was winter of 1995-1996, and some college friends and I had heard that Keanu Reeves was filming a movie downtown. We waited outside of his trailer like the sweet little schoolgirls that we were. For hours we waited in the cold, and when we finally saw him, we asked him for a photo (which he politely obliged). Sad thing was he looked like garbage and it completely cured me of any celebrity-crush fascination from then on. – includes photo
Note: Chain Reaction was filmed January 8, 1996 – April 13, 1996,

`Matrix’ Star Keanu Reeves Has A Pattern Of Questioning
April 03, 1999|by AMY LONGSDORF (A free-lance story for The Morning Call)
For this afternoon’s interview, Reeves looks like he just came from taking a nap. His hair is standing up at odd angles, his chin boasts a couple days’ worth of stubble and his fingernails are sporting chipped black polish.
Reeves loosens up when he’s asked what computer program he’d most like to hack into. “I’d think I’d like to check out the Kama Sutra training program,” he says laughing. “You can always improve yourself in that department.”
