The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that 40 min. were cut out of Cloud Atlas, which premiered in Beijing last night, as a result of China’s film censorship policies. The film’s three directors were not involved in the editing which was done by the Chinese co-producers.
This leaves one to wonder how these censorship policies will affect Man of Tai Chi. From what we know about the film so far, it is hard to imagine that there will be no violence or profanity. Since the film was shot in China, are these censorship rules already in place or will there be two versions, one for Chinese audiences and another for the rest of the world. We will have to wait until summer to find out.
