Keanu Reeves Uses Codex Digital

SHOOT reports that Keanu Reeves is using Codex digital recorders and image processing technology for the Man of Tai Chi shoot. ARRI Alexa Studio cameras and Hawk lenses are being used by cinematographer Elliot Davis  to film ARRIRAW in anamorphic format, captured by Codex Onboard Recorders.  For those curious, anamorphic format is a filming technique used to achieve a widescreen image. Supervising Technical Engineer, Michael Taylor, elaborates saying:

“Our action film needed the freedom that onboard recording brings to shooting digital, and the Codex Onboard Recorders give us maximum recording resolution in a small, reliable package.”

In addition, a Codex DIgital Lab and a Codex Transfer Station for the Mac will be used to produce dailies and archive digital negative to LTO-5 tape. Taylor, who has used this system before says:

“Our system of backup and transcoding is simple and fast. What we shoot in the morning is being edited in the afternoon and I know our director loves that.”
