More on the Test Screening of Man of Tai Chi

Tweeters replied to Marcus’ tweet yesterday asking for more details on the Man of Tai Chi screening. From his additional tweets, we learn that he saw it as a result of a series of random events, so his attendance at the screening doesn’t appear to be job related. He thought that the lead actor (Tiger) was stand out and his scenes were good as well. The martial arts was impressive but he was expecting The Matrix meets Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. In addition the dialogue was poor in places and ta few of the scenes were complicated but it should look great once it is polished.

That being said, the purpose of test screenings is to get feedback from the audience and make adjustments to the film. Since most of the dialogue was done in voice overs, honing it should not be a problem. As for the complicated scenes, editing them and presenting them in a slightly different way may remedy that glitch. All in all, it sounds like Keanu accomplished what he set out to do, which was make a good Kung Fu movie. It also looks like Tiger shines in his scenes. Considering the array of martial arts experts turned actors that Keanu cast in the film, this comes as no surprise.
