With the release of Man of Tai Chi on the horizon there is much recounting of Keanu Reeves’ long time association with Chen Hu (Tiger) and Yuen Woo-Ping dating back to the The Matrix days. In articles appearing on Chinese sites this week we have learned about the promise that Keanu made to Tiger to develop a project that he (Tiger) would star in and that his master (Yuen Woo-Ping) would direct the action in.
We know from previous articles that there are 18 fight sequences that were timed out to 40 min. One of the extra clips included in The Ultimate Matrix Collection, The Dance of the Master: Yuen Woo-Ping’s Blocking Tapes will give you an idea of what goes into planning and blocking out a fight sequence. The clip is here.
Tiger is an accomplished martial artist and recently we have seen several interview clips where he talks about his involvement in training some of the actors, including Keanu, for The Matrix films. In the clip, Tiger Style: A Day in the Life of Chen Hu also found in The Ultimate Matrix Collection, you learn about Tiger’s background and you get a glimpse into his world as a trainer and stuntman. You also get to see him in action and also get an idea of what he brings to MOTC. The clip is here.
The disc contents of The Ultimate Matrix Colledtion can be seen here.
