Universal Studios theme park has closed their annual Bill and Ted Halloween show due to complaints that it reinforced homophobic stereotypes with the antics of the Superman character who turns gay after being sprinkled with fairy dust. You can read the details of the Superman antics here. (Warning, it is in incredibly bad taste IMO)
The theme park has issued the following statement:
“After thoughtful consideration, Universal Studios Hollywood has made the decision to discontinue production of the Halloween Horror Nights’ ‘Bill & Ted’ show for the remainder of its limited run.”
Note: ‘After thoughtful consideration’, really? You have to wonder whose bright idea it was to take the much loved Bill & Ted and trash it up to begin with and why Universal Studios Hollywood thought it was such a great idea to begin with.
