Three More Matthew Rolston Portraits

Many thanks to Ayako for the heads up on twitter!

Many thanks to matthewrolstonstudio for sharing three additional black and white portraits of Keanu on instagram here, here and here. The photos are from the photoshoot he did for the Interview Magazine article in 1990. The following comments were posted with the photos, respectively.

From the sacred to the profane. Coming off of our last post – a major shift in tone: for Matthew’s 1990 @interviewmag shoot of Keanu Reeves, he chose to weave symbols of fetish and sexual objectification into his portrayal of the young star’s allure, pointing out Hollywood’s objectification of its latest sex symbol. Styling again by @raymondfmlee ⠀

Again, a photo of Keanu from Matthew’s 1990 @interviewmag series that poked fun at Hollywood’s sexual obsession with Reeves – yet another in a series of extreme close-ups, this time focusing on a less-obvious erogenous zone. Some subtle gender play going on here, too, as usual with Matthew. ⠀

The final of our Keanu shots (for now)! Andy Warhol’s @interviewmag was always pushing the envelope of celebrity imagery, the photos themselves acting as a voice in the conversation between reputation and reality. Styling throughout by Raymond Lee, natch!
