More 47 Ronin Reviews, One from India – Update!

For those who are interested, here are a few more 47 Ronin reviews.

Update: Drew Barile reviewed the 47 Ronin for The Celebrity Cafe. She says the following:

The film overall is a huge success, as it has striking supernatural visuals and a strong core structure that propels the film along nicely. Reeves and Sanada have great onscreen chemistry.
…the film has a nice balance of action, drama and even romance. It is well-rounded and very different than most films out. The film is a nice change of pace from all the redundant movies currently flooding the box offices. The quixotic bushido culture and feudal setting in the film even becomes alluring and transports the viewers to another world entirely.

Reagan Gavin Rasquinha reviewed 47 Ronin for the Times of India and gave it 3.5/5 stars.  He says:

The unwavering devotion to honour – in this case, the Bushido code – is the conceptual thread that ties this whole film together. The movie mixes many elements, but the overall tapestry looks good. An American-accented Kai amongst hardcore Japanese warriors is not jarring.

Magical lands and sorcery add to the movie’s mythic structure. While Mika is suitably simpering, the witch is delightfully evil and is a pleasure to watch. As for Reeves, his lines are minimal, but his swordplay does all the talking.

Kimberly Watkins reviewed the film for The Ledger. She says the following:

“47 Ronin” is a fascinating film that mixes a dash of mystique with the true tale of the 47 dishonored samurai who seek revenge for their master’s death.

The costumes, scenery and landscapes add drama and authenticity to the film. The CGI is well-integrated into the action sequences. Although Reeves may be the star of the film, he is overshadowed by the acting talent of the remaining cast.
