I had a reader register from the page of a photo which seemed odd so I have spent the last couple of hrs trying to track that down. I have updated a plugin and wordpress. Both he new version of wordpress and the plugin handle photos differently. For whatever reason, photos are being given their own page that is separate from the post page that they appear on . When you click on a photo within a post, it enlarges as it should but it does not show up on the dark gallery background as it should. It is also accompanied by a protection notice and a prompt to log in or register. It is not clear why the photo is protected when it is attached to a post that is not protected. Logging in on the photo page brings up the reply and comment box but does not enlarge the photo further or display any additional information. I can’t say with certainty if the problem lies with wordpress or the plugin and I’m not seeing anything obvious in the code. I am out of ideas and have sought help in the wp forum and will update when I have more information.
Update: The problem has been isolated to the SEO plugin and it has been deactivated for the time being until the developer can get back to me and. I have piled on to the posts of several others that are having issues with the galleries displaying properly.
On a positive note, the photos are enlarging and are viewable.
Update X2: The first fix the developer gave for the SEO prevents photos from opening in a new gallery window and enlarging.
The background on the gallery is still not dark and it is not clear if it is a browser problem specific to the Mac or a direct issue with the latest wp update.
