Forbes: Keanu Reeves Has Genuine Drawing Power

In his weekend box office review for Forbes, Scott Mendelson has said the following about 47 Ronin and Keanu Reeves:

After years of delays and reshoots, Universal’s 47 Ronin finally opened on domestic shores. With $3.4m yesterday, the Keanu Reeves samurai film has earned $14.1m since debuting with $7.1m on Christmas day and should end the frame with $21m. On one hand, that’s a terrible number for a $175m picture. On the other hand, it just shows that Keanu Reeves has genuine drawing power, as he pulled off a $20m debut for a film that had absolutely nothing going for it. No other stars, no buzz, limited advertising, poor reviews, a famously troubled production history, and yet it still opened with $20m.
