Box Office Mojo has posted a more detailed article hat analyzes this week’s BO returns. While John Wick was below the opening weekend take of The Equalizer ($34 M) it did out earned A Walk Among the Tombstone ($12.8 M) and 3 Days to Kill (($12.2 M) and came close to The Expendables 3 ($15.9 M).
Next week Ouija will most likely have another big weekend due to Halloween and then will start to decline. While John Wick has the potential to break $40 M, the release of Interstellar and Big Hero 6 the following week will make that difficult.
Note: Word of mouth appears to be crucial for Wick to have legs and stay in the theaters for at least 4-6 weeks, IMO.
Update: Box Office Mojo has posted the actual box office numbers for this weekend and John Wick earned $14,415,922.
