Katie Wong has a post up on Dracula over at Sight on Sound. In revisiting this film, Wong points out that Keanu Reeves’ changes gears and plays a weak and withered shadow of fresh faced Jonathan Harker after his successful and strong roles as Ted in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Scott in My Own Private Idaho. He represents the ‘light’ in the tale and is more of a hero than Anthony Hopkin’s character, Van Helsing.
When all is said and done Wong says, and rightfully so, that Dracula is just another love story.
