Joanna Gruesome has an interesting post up on Eaten by Monsters. As someone ensconced in the music industry, the author brings an interesting perspective to the Side by Side discussion. One of the major points she makes is that Side by Side stays focused on the process of filmmaking and doesn’t mention piracy or audience consumption.
She aptly notes that a similar discussion has also occurred in the music industry but it has unfortunately been over shawdowed by piracy issues. She takes a quick look at analogue vs. digital sound and comes to the conclusion that:
What makes a great record are the same things that make a great film; vision and hard work.
