generation Um Review for DVD Release

Steve Norwood has reviewed generation Um… for Letterboxd for the DVD release. He has given the film 3.5 stars. In addition to telling a bit about the film, he also makes the following points:

  • If you are impatient you will most likely bale on the film a few minutes in. On the other hand if you continue to watch you find that the film takes on an intriguing form as it progresses.
  • It show cases Keanu Reeves acting talent and people that watch the film will see just how good he is,
  • Novakovic’s character is truly hate-able but she has some redeeming moments by the end. The loathing that her character elicits speaks to Novakovic’s acting chops.
  • Clemens has the more disconcerting and more subdued role and she does quite a good job of it.

In closing Norwood says:

As for Reeves, I was truly impressed by much of his work here, especially before he begins filming the girls, when he’s on his own and mulling over…something. There’s so much going on in John’s head that we never know, I wished there could have been a different film about the character…
