In a wrap up piece on deals made in Cannes, The Hollywood Reporter takes a look at Havey Weinstein’s buying surge.
When Deadline Hollywood originally announced that acquisition of Passengers by TWC, they reported at the time they heard that it included $25M for advertising and marketing of the film. THR confirms that budget in this piece. THR is also reporting that the film is in pre-production.
Note: Passengers is moving right along. We haven’t seen one of Keanu’s films move this fast after being announced since Henry’s Crime (also CF). Company FIlms has maintained control of Passengers and if this is how CF rolls, then yipee!
I also found it interesting that THR said:
…TWC committed to spending $25 million on marketing, a hefty sum in the independent world.
The original announcement back in May also said TWC planned a wide release for Passengers, so it looks like they expect this indie to perform well at the box office and are supplying the neccessary resource to help it achieve that goal.
