Thanks V!
Many Western sites have posted the trailer and their accompanying text has either been negative or postive.
Screenrant is on record as saying that the combat scenes have excellent choreography thanks to Yuen Woo-Ping and the cinematography is nice and clean thanks to Elliot Davis. That have taken exception to tthe scriptwriter has a video background and have also commented on the lack of Keanu’s presence in the film.
FirstShowing has said that Keanu has some style behind the camera even if his acting is a little over the top. (There is no pleasing them!) The real stars are Tiger Hu Chen and the amazing fight scenes that may give The Raid a run for its money.
Joblo says the film looks like fun and based on the trailer, it looks like a solid fight flick.
Cinemablend writer says there is enough to appreciate in the trailer that the film would be high on his anticipated list. With respect to the film overall, he says the look is impressive with Reeves giving scenes a futuristic look that suggests danger and darkness.
Business Insider says the trailer is blindingly cool for unapologetic action movie enthusiasts.
Movieweb says the film will be one of the biggest action spectacles of the year with Tiger Hu Chen starring and Jeremy Marinas and Iko Uwais co-starring.
/Film says that while it is a fight film, the trailer suggests a story that is complicated and has a moral path for the main character.
Ain’t It Cool says the trailer looks awesome. It gives more story, more action and tons of ass-kicking.
Screen Crave says: “A film like this is made by its fighting scenes, and Reeves knows his kung fu at this point (as is evinced in the trailer) so this could be a lot of fun.”
The Playlist and the Indiewire were both negative and not worth mentioning. For the record, there isn’t anything wrong with being negative but as writers there’s no reason to be snotty or insulting.
