If your comment does not go through, do not keep sending it. The software is set up to allow people that have a posted comment to sail through. I have purposely set the software to hold all comments for moderation that have a link – that is a safety measure and I will not change it. For those whose internet hosts operate via dynamic IP addresses, often the anti-spam plugin doesn’t recognize changing IP addresses even if you have had a previously posted comment and those get held for moderation or go to the spam box – considering the enormous number of spammers that try to post every day that feature is also not going away.
I do not sit in front of the computer all day, so if you do not see your post right away chances are the software held it back and it will have to wait until I can get to the site to do something about it. I realize it is not convenient for everyone but the alternative is to shut off commenting altogether as I have neither the time or inclination to remove the spammer comments that will appear if I change the settings. Also note that I am in the ET zone so I am in a different time zone than many of you.
Note, I actively block comments that are not inline with the commenting guidelines that are posted in both the side and top menu bars under ‘Menu’.
