The Scottsdale Independent has a post up on the Coronado High School Community Festival. Mr. Smith, who is an instruction specialist at the high school, was a student there when the school was used as a backdrop in the Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure shoot. In the piece, he reminisces about the filming of the film at the school.
To mark the film’s 30th anniversary, the school will screen the film for free during its community festival on February 22 at 7 pm on a 20 ft screen at he Coronado High School Football Field.
Mr. Smith says the following about the mosaic in the school auditorium:
“They are walking into the Coronado auditorium and you see this mosaic — it is one of the only things they kept during the rebuild years ago,” he points out. “But when you watch Bill and Ted’s, they pull up and you see that epic mosaic, that just kind of struck a chord with me.”
