Elliot Davis Talks about the Anamorphic Lenses Used for Man of Tai Chi

Elliot Davis, Director of Photography for Man of Tai Chi, appeared at CineGear New York last week to discuss the digital technology that was used to shoot Man of Tai Chi. He ended up using the Hawk anamorphic lenses with the Alexa Studio camera. He had the following to say about the lenses and the shoot:

…the Hawk lenses had a “very modern” look that matched Reeves’ vision for the film. For example, he said, Reeves wanted to shoot martial arts action coverage with a Steadicam rig, giving those scenes a Western feel that’s unusual in martial arts pictures.
