The Wrap has just posted the latest on problems associated with dealing with China. Here are some of the issues.
- US studios have little to no control over what films get approved for co-production status, what films can be shown or what weekend they can be released in China.
- According to Robert Cain, “Cheating foreigners is almost a national sport in China.’
- Multiple studios and companies have failed to get their cut of box-office revenues
- While the number of screens continues to grow in China, this year over 60% of sales went to Chinese films.
After reading the piece it left me wondering why Hollywood even bothers.
