The Passengers script, which made the Black List in 2007, generated both excitement and anticipation among the Reeves’ fan base when it was originally announced by The Hollywood Reporter back in 2010.
During an interview with Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub from Collider at the TIFF back in September 2010, when asked about the status of Passengers, Keanu Reeves answered that “Passengers is a spaceship in waiting”.
We haven’t heard anything about Passengers since and I, quite frankly, assumed it would never see the light of day. That changed today.
Jack Giroux from FilmSchoolRejects spoke with Jon Spaihts today. Mr. Spaihts, who revealed that Passengers now has financing, said:
“We are well into development. We have a marvelous director, a financier that stepped up very generously, and we’re making final tweaks and polishes. I suspect you’ll hear announcements sooner rather than later.”
I, for one, am glad to read about these new developments. The entire article can be read at the link above.
