Box Office Mojo is now showing that the production budget for the film was $20 million. The film has currently made $43,297,485 worldwide and the foreign box office has not been updated since November 2. Last week the film opened in Pakistan.
This week the film will be opening in seven markets: Hungary, Malaysia, Portugal, Estonia, India, Lithuania and Latvia.
John Wick was made and marketed with a small demographic in mind. The film has currently made back 2.16 times it’s budget. Studios usually consider films to be successful when they recover at least 2.5 times its budget. By the time the film finishes its run both domestically and internationally, it appears that the film will hit the 2.5 threshold. That is good news for the studio and everyone else associated with the production.
Update: Foreign BO numbers have been updated through Nov 9. In total as of Nov 11 the film has made $50,684,672 worldwide via Box Office Mojo.
