Keanu Reeves On Side by Side and his Directorial Debut

Christopher Rogan interviewed Keanu Reeves for The Huffington Post. He points out that Keanu Reeves appears in one of the best films of the summer, but few will get to see it because it is a limited release documentary.

In the interview, Keanu talks about Side by Side, 3D films, and his personal views on the celluloid vs. digital debate. He acknowledges that filming the documentary aided him in directing Man of Tai Chi by saying:

[There was] familiarity with what it meant for digital workflow and how to look at the images; a comfort with the set, with the digital technicians. It definitely helped make the forest I was going into a little more known.

He also talks about Elliot Davis, his cinematographer for Man of Tai Chi and why he chose him. When asked if the reason he hasn’t appeared in many films the last five years was due to the roles not being right or his being too picky, Keanu said:

Yeah, it’s been harder. It’s harder to get films off the ground. It’s harder to get roles. So, I guess it’s just been my lot in life. But I’m working on it!

Clearly Mr. Rogan gave some thought to the questions he prepared and came to this interview well prepared. He was successful in garnering some new information from Mr. Reeves.
