Knock Knock Review and Interview

Bob Grimm has posted his review of Knock Knock for the CV Independent. Here are some money quotes:

Reeves does a nice job of acting scared shitless and out-of-his-mind angry. He has a rant near the end of the film, when he is tied in a chair, that might be the best moment of acting he’s ever produced.

The movie has restored my faith in the directing chops of Roth, and it gives Reeves another good movie after last year’s John Wick.

USA Today has a posted their piece on Knock Knock. For the article, they talked to both Keanu Reeves and Eli Roth. Keanu said his home invasion was much-more terrifying that the film scenario. About playing Evan Weber he said:

“It was fun to play this character who gets so brutalized and tied up” in Knock Knock. “Throughout my career, I’ve been hoping and have had the chance to tell different kinds of stories.

“I just want to do it all!”

Here are a few things that Eli Roth said about Keanu:

“There are not many actors, let alone stars of his caliber, that would allow you to cut their hair and have the girls humiliate them.”

“I was so happy when he was going ‘Monster!’ stumbling around with cake on his face.” “I was like, ‘Oh, God, this poor guy. He’s really in for it.’ ”

But going from John Wick mode to dad mode took a few tries. “The first take with the kids, he was still in (hitman) character. I was like, ‘Maybe this take, say it like you don’t want to shoot them in the face.’ ”
