Variety is reporting that there is an exhibition on the Lumiere brothers and their early film works in Paris that is on display until June 14 at the Grand Palais in Paris. The exhibition will include their first film shoot of Employees Leaving the Lumiere Factory as well as 1,500 of their other films. the article also says:
Lumière! will also feature remakes of the Lumière’s first film, 1895’s “Employees Leaving the Lumière Factory,” shot over 2013-14 by Quentin Tarantino, Pedro Almodóvar, Michael Cimino, Paolo Sorrentino and Jerry Schatzberg.
Note: Keanu Reeves participated in Pedro Almodovar’s remake when he was at the Lumiere Festival in October of 2014.
Also the Lumiere Brothers will be honored at the Cannes Film Festival this year and they have invited noted pairs of brothers in the film industry to celebrate the event.
