More on the Neon Demon – Update!

Neon Demon first came onto the radar back in November when it was brought to the American Film Market. In a press release in November of 2014, the film was described as a horror tale with a young female cast. Nicolas Windng Refn was quoted in Deadline as saying:

“One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.”

The film will be co-financed and co-distributed by France’s Gaumont and Wild Bunch. Principle photography will be in Los Angeles.

Update: Brendon Connelly has posted the following for What Culture:

While I don’t know the specifics of Reeves’ and Hendricks’ roles, I have been told – by somebody who would definitely know – that the film is about a group of supermodels going to extremes in their attempts to keep looking the way they do. What this translates into is voodoo and cannibalism.
