The LA TImes has an interview with Peter Atenico, the director of the Keanu. He recounts how Keanu Reeves came to do a voiceover in the cat film. You can read the entire interview for the details but here is a brief rundown:
- Keanu’s representatives said no when approached on his doing a voiceover.
- His sister saw the film’s trailer and brought it to Keanu’s attention.
- Keanu directly contacted them and asked if there was something he could do.
- They found a scene for him and the voiceover was done in a sound studio in Rome during the JW2 shoot, while the director was skyping with him.
Also Peter Atencio said this about Keanu:
His personality has just transcended life, in a lot of ways. You wouldn’t have ever guessed that the guy from “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” would turn out to be this thoughtful, kind man.
