Retirement Is Not An Option for Screen Hitmen

Bryan Alexander did a piece on big screen hitmen in recent movies that were brought out of retirement for USA Today. One of the films mentioned was John Wick. With respect to the retirement aspect of the character, co-director David Leitch said the following:

“It’s over-the-top wish fulfillment. You go with this wronged character as he enacts vigilante justice,” says co-director David Leitch (working with Chad Stahelski). “Everyone wants to feel they have that much power.”

With box office success, Reeves can ensure that John Wick stays miserably employed with franchise installments.

“We don’t want John Wick to retire again, we’re glad he’s back in the game,” says Leitch. “We want a sequel or a prequel. There’s a lot of fertile ground to cover.”

Did you get that – David Leitch is hoping for a prequel or sequel! The article is here.
