Will Shake Up at Exclusive Media Affect the Foreign Distribution of Passengers – Note Added!

Deadline Hollywood reported late last night that there was talk in Berlin of a shake up that is in progress at Exclusinve Media. In their original exclusinve post they said that they heard that  Nigel SInclair and Guy East (owners) would either  their executive posts or transition into producer deals.

Nigel SIncair has confirmed the story and issued the following statement:

“Exclusive Media’s management is engaged in collaborative discussions with our partners from Dasym Investment Strategies BV regarding the forward plan for the company. We will make an announcement regarding the outcome of these discussions at the appropriate time.”

Exclusive Mediais at the European Film Market looking for foreign distributors for Passengers starring Keanu Reeves and Rachel McAdams. Note, Liongate is also there looking for foreign distributors for John WIck (previously reported).

Variety has picked up the story.

Note: Exclusive Media is in charge of non-US sales. That means they are responsible for finding foreign distributors for the film. They are not involved in the production of the film and so the shake up will (should) not affect the film moving forward. It is not clear what affect this shake up will have, if any, on the procurement of foreign distributors for the film. When push comes to shove, Exclusive Media is a business and with shake ups in business, things tend to get lost in the shuffle. Hopefully who ever ends up in charge over there, Passengers and any other projects that they are currently representing will not get lost in the shuffle. There is Cannes and the American Film Market this fall to get foreign distributors for Passengers. Next years European Film Market gets dicey with an April 3 release planned for the film.
