Deadline is reporting that 47 Ronin has been pushed back again. 47 Ronin is now scheduled to open on December 25, 2013. The reshooting of some scenes as well as some visual work have run into scheduling problems at the London studio as a result of the Olympics making it impossible for the film to launch on February 8, 2013 as previously announced.
Personally I see this as good news. Universal must feel fairly confident that the reshooting of the final battle scene as well as the additional scenes to bolster Keanu’s character will strengthen the film substantially. A December 25 release date signals that 47 Ronin is positioned for a tentpole run.
