Keanu Goes to Dinner with Michael Tong

Many thanks to Nina for posting the first link and to Ayako for the second link!

Both the Oriental Daily and News on CC have coverage of Keanu’s dinner outing last night. No copyright infringement is intended. The English translation that I have come up with from the google draft follows:

Synopsis in the top box

Hollywood superstar Keanu Reeves has once again come to Hong Kong to do post-production work on the film he directed here last summer. This business trip is relatively easy compared to last summer’s filming trip. Last night (?Jan 31*) He ate dinner out at Houqi Luo with Michael Tong and Brian from the Hip Hop group Twenty Four Flavours. He praised the meal, saying it was lovely. It is reported that many of his friends wanted to introduce a girl to Keanu. He was not very interested in meeting her and preferred to meet with male friends. It seems the otaku (homebody**) quite enjoys the single life.

Body of the article

Keanu Reeves has once again come to Hong Kong to do post-production work on his directorial debut, Man of Tai Chi. In comparison to his trip last summer, Keanu will not have as much work and this trip will be easy (or similar to a friend’s dinner party).

According to his friends, Keanu has failed to start dating again since the death of his girl friend Jennifer Syme in a car accident in 2001. His friends, who know he has been single for a long time, enthusiastically introduced him to a girl during their dinner. Unfortunately, Keanu had no interest in the lady (“Goddess”) and he obediently returned to the hotel after dinner.

Last night Keanu treated Michael Tong and Brian from Hip Hop group Twenty Four Flavours to dinner at a Causeway Bay restaurant. After dinner finished about 22:30 (10:30 pm) they left the restaurant. Keanu in plain dress appeared to face the reporters to answer questions, but a foreign woman suspected of being Keanu’s assistant kept blocking the questions of the jostling reporters.

*News on CC article was dated 2/1/13 and says night before  and the Oriental Daily is dated 2/2/13 and says the night before last so I think this dinner took place on Jan. 31.

**Otaku: according to the urban dictionary, Otaku is the honorific word of Taku (home). Otaku is extremely negative in meaning as it is used to refer to someone who stays at home all the time.

The article, photo and video clip can be found  at the Oriental Daily. The video clip is the same that appears on  TV on CC. All of the footage is from the location scouting trip during late  2011/early 2012 and summer of 2012. The footage at the very end of the clip is recent but it is so dark it is hard to really see anything.

News on  CC has two photos of Keanu leaving the restaurant.
