Interviews

Samuel R. Murrian interviewed Keanu for Parade. Keanu talks about what drew him to the film, violence in films and updates on Bill & Ted Face the Music and John Wick 3. When asked what drew him to the script, Keanu said the following.

I liked Lucas Hill, and I like that this is a romantic tragedy. I like that the character is operating in a dark world where he’s used to making deals to keep things together, but it’s not working out. I like that he fell in love, but the circumstances of his life get in the way. The theme of the film is very Shakespearean to me—there’s this impossible love and connection. I like the humor of the piece, too.

Update: Paul Chi interviewed Keanu Reeves for Vanity Fair. He was asked about Destination Wedding and The Matrix reboot. He said the following about working with Winona Ryder.

I had the best time working with Winona again. She’s such a great actress. We had fun together making Destination Wedding—too much fun. We play characters that are opposites of the same coin. I’m more of a pessimist, and she’s more of an optimist, which causes lots of fighting between the two of us. . . .

Rick Marshall interviewed Matthew Ross for Digital Trend. Among other things, Ross talks about how he came to work on the film, working with Scott Smith’s script, working with Keanu, and rehearsing romantic scenes. He said the following about Keanu.

…What I really want to do is show people what Keanu is capable of beyond the action sequences and show exactly how intelligent a performer he is, and how sensitive a performer he is, and how emotional a performer he is…  …But he’s also a deeply intelligent, deeply sensitive performer, and I wanted to explore that.

AM|FM Magazine posted their interview with Ana Ularu. Among other things, she talked about working with Keanu and what a kind man he was. She also said that he is one of the most cultured people that she has ever met.

The Hollywood Reporter has posted their interview with Keanu, Matthew Ross and Ana Ularu. It is very short.

Reviews

Movies Geeks reviewed Siberia for We Are Movie Geeks and gave it 3/5 stars. In Matthew Ross’s interviews he has articulated his vision for the film. This review seemed to get what Matthew was trying to accomplish. The review ends with the following.

Siberia really isn’t a great movie, but it is well made and survives on the charisma of its leading man. It works well to his strengths and even lets him fire off a couple of rifle rounds, which is all it needed to do. It’s not particularly great, not particularly terrible, just pretty good. This seems like a year of pretty good movies for Reeves, with Destination Wedding coming up soon.

Jennifer Szalai reviewed Siberia for the NYT. Her review is superficial.

Update: John Delia reviewed Siberia for Aced Magazine and gave it 3.5/5 stars.
